Bliss Heart Project
The Thought
In 2024, Domestic Bliss launched the Bliss Heart Project, a heartfelt initiative inspired by the remarkable journey of a brave woman named Emma Gorrick, a local to our beautiful Northern Beaches. Emma fought her battle with cancer with an admirable tenacity, pouring every ounce of her being into her fight, driven by an unwavering love for her family.
In late 2022, Emma’s sister (who had previously used our services) reached out to Domestic Bliss to arrange cleaning services for her. It was during this time that Emma's personal Instagram page serendipitously appeared on my feed. Intrigued, I began following her account, and I was struck by the positivity that radiated from her posts each day, even amidst her struggle. It was clear that Emma was fighting not just for herself, but for her beloved family—her husband and two young children.
Feeling a deep sense of empathy and heartbreak for what she was enduring, I made a pivotal decision in November 2022: there would be no invoicing for the cleaning services we provided. I recognized that it would be inappropriate to profit from the services that would ease some of their burdens. During this difficult time, we wanted to ease the burden for her and her family, allowing them to focus on what truly mattered—spending precious moments together. We began a weekly service for Emma, providing her family with free cleaning during her treatment. Our team served from the heart, ensuring that their home remained a place of comfort and peace.
Each week, my dedicated team took pride in ensuring that Emma’s home was a comforting sanctuary. They sent us photos of freshly changed bed linens, sparkling bathrooms and kitchens and the joy of knowing that her family would have one less thing to worry about while navigating hospital appointments and treatments was invaluable. Sadly, Emma lost her fight in October 2023, leaving behind her loving family. In the wake of her passing, we continued to support her family by offering services at a reduced rate until May 2024 in collaboration with friends who generously contributed to help alleviate their workload during such an incredibly difficult time.
As the months passed and we reflected on our experiences, we realised that Emma's story and strength had sparked something profound within us. It wasn’t just about providing a service; it was about honouring Emma’s spirit and extending the same kindness to other families facing hardship.
In May 2024, we formalised our vision introducing the Bliss Heart Project, aiming to create a legacy inspired by Emma.
The project was born from a desire to provide support without barriers. However, we knew we needed a way to identify families in need, as most clients are reserved in sharing their personal struggles. Thus, the Bliss Heart Project was conceived as a community initiative, infused with love and inspiration drawn from Emma’s journey. Through this project, Domestic Bliss seeks not only to continue Emma's legacy but also to make a significant impact on the lives of families facing adversity. Whether it’s through meticulous attention to detail, compassionate service, or going the extra mile for those facing hardship, we are honoured to be more than just a cleaning company—we are a helping hand when it matters most.
The Bliss Heart Project stands as a testament to the power of compassion, community and the enduring strength of hope offering one lucky person each month a 3-hour service, free of charge.

We take immense pride in being able to provide this initiative to someone who is experiencing difficult times and where the stress has become insurmountable. Whether it be illness, financial hardship, mental health or family challenges, we are here to make a difference.
